Darren R. Jackson, Bus Ad ’86, is president and chief executive officer of Advance Auto Parts, a leading automotive aftermarket retailer of parts, accessories, batteries, and maintenance items serving the do-it-yourself and professional installer markets.

Previously, Jackson was chief financial officer and executive vice president for consumer operating groups at Best Buy, where he was responsible for the entertainment, personal computer mobility and home solutions operating groups.

Jackson was named one of the “most admired CFOs in America” by Institutional Investor Magazine, and CFO Magazine listed him among its top 20 young chief financial officers likely to shape the profession.

Jackson was elected to Marquette’s Board of Trustees in 2004 and served as chair from 2009–12. He is on the board of directors of Minneapolis’ Cristo Rey Jesuit High School.

Jason DeRusha, Comm ’97, is a weekend news anchor for WCCO-TV in Minneapolis and hosts the station’s highly rated “Good Question” segment on the 10 p.m. nightly newscast.

DeRusha is a sought-after expert on the intersection of social media and journalism, and one blogger named him a “Top 20 Minnesota Social Media Innovator.” He won regional Emmy Awards for anchoring coverage of the 2010 blizzard, Online Personality (twice), Health Reporting and Ongoing Feature Series. Jaycees also named him among its “Ten Outstanding Young Minnesotans.”

DeRusha received Marquette’s 2012 Young Alumnus of the Year award from the J. William and Mary Diederich College of Communication. In the Twin Cities, he is president of the board of governors of the National Television Academy and helps mentor future broadcasters.
